Darcy Paige, Owner

Darcy Paige is the cheerful leader of Laurel Garden Design. She has been gardening for, let’s just say, a long time, and designing for others since 1996. Always involved in the creative arts - illustration and cooking in the early years - Darcy decided to turn her lifelong passion for nature and gardening into her career in the 1990’s.

About Darcy...

Darcy was self-taught at first, reading voraciously and experimenting in her own gardens more than her family probably cared for (“Take off the head lamp, Mom, and come in, it’s bed time!”).

In 2003 she became a Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist (MCH), and in 2008 was certified as a NOFA Organic Land Care Professional (OLCP).

In 2010, she graduated with a Masters Certificate in Landscape Design from the Landscape Institute of Harvard University and the BAC (Boston Architectural College). She is now considering applying for a grant to develop simpler names for her degrees and certifications!

Darcy is dedicated to designing gardens with both the client and the environment in mind. She uses native plants, sustainable practices and maintains gardens organically. Her own garden is a Certified Wildlife Habitat and has been featured on two garden tours. In 2011, and again in 2012, she was chosen by Magnetic Productions to create backyard makeover designs for 5 homeowners on Cape Cod for the HGTV show ‘Going Yard’.

Darcy loves to travel, especially to the Southwest, or her home away from home: France.

Kerry O'Kelly, Design Associate

Kerry O’Kelly works closely with Darcy in both the design and maintenance divisions of LGD. You can often see them pushing carts full of plants at a nursery, or huddled around a sketch pad hashing out design ideas. When not gardening for LGD she works in her own garden until she drops from fatigue, and then gets up and does it again! Kerry is an avid reader, follows politics closely, and can frequently be seen marching for a better world.

She became a Certified Master Gardener in 2009 and graduated with a Masters Certificate in Landscape Design from the Landscape Institute in 2013. She was certified as a NOFA Organic Land Care Professional in 2017. As part of her commitment to ecological practices, she has been involved for over 10 years with the Ecological Landscape Alliance and been on the Board since 2012.

The LGD Gardeners TEAM

Among Darcy’s fellow and fellowette gardeners, you will find a variety of plant-loving folks:

  • Our crew leader, Marissa, a musically inspired transplant from the corporate world who loves her dog, her garden, travel, and her outdoor office. Before joining LGD, she spent 4 years learning about plants and container design in a local nursery. She has a heart as big as a White Oak, kicks butt with flowers, brings humor to the job, and keeps the crew motivated through the hard work.
  • A longtime lover of perennials, who rocks out to Lucinda Williams, works like a demon, and loves long walks in the forest before coming to the jobsite in the morning.
  • Another transplant from the corporate world (yes, working outdoors is wonderful!) who is infectiously happy, plays the banjo when his pruning hand isn’t sore, and in his free time can be seen leaning over his sewing machine, making amazing patches for Grateful Dead fans.
  • An animal lover who travelled around the world caring for orphaned wild animal babies before training and working as an organic farmer. His zoology background has him finding and naming all sorts of tiny creatures in the gardens, and his drumming background keeps us moving at a steady pace!

Everyone one on the team brings hard work, dedication, knowledge, and joy to your garden.
